Saltwater Sportfishing Instruction

2012 Season
March 1- October 31, 2012
This year our instructors will be offering three options for individual lessons. Keep in mind we can also customize a program for your specific individual or group needs.

Option 1: One hour onsite instruction at a local tackle shop or your beach cottage.
We will travel to you within the Nags Head- Southern Shores range. Beyond those areas we will charge a travel fee to be negotiated. Instruction will include species to be targeted during the specific time of your visit, rods, reels, line lures, or live bait rigging. Reading the beach, fishing locations, time of day and weather considerations will all be covered. While we're happy to come to your cottage we recommend meeting at a local shop so you can use the time to purchase what you need.
Cost: $125 for one hour for two people. $25 each additional person present.

Option 2: Three hour on water instruction. In this case we meet you at a local tackle shop in the early morning or evening to make sure you have all the gear necessary, including the appropriate fishing license We then travel to a local fishing area where we instruct you on site how to fish for the species available at that time. Species may include big red drum in March/October; speckled trout in the spring and late fall;  cobia in late May; pompano, flounder, rockfish, spot,  and croaker during the summer months.
Cost: $375 for up to two people plus bait cost.

Option 3: Classroom instruction on request. With many years of seminar experience we are happy to arrange a presentation for your group. Our professional presentations are oriented toward teaching very specific skills including species specific feeding and migratory behavior, fishing techniques, knots, rods, reels, lines, terminal tackle, live bait, OBX  fishing hotspots using google earth and charts projected. We also recognize the value of local knowledge for boaters unfamiliar with our challenging sounds, inlets and ocean waters. Keep in mind that the Outer Banks fishing school's staff instructors are all very knowledgeable local Captains and guides all of whom EACH have at least twenty years fishing the OBX. We can put together a very professional Powerpoint presentation for your group as formally or informally as you require.
Cost: Based on program length

"Everyone wants to improve their skills and catch rate, especially when visiting a world-class fishing destination like the Outer Banks of North Carolina."

All too often this is how it goes for beginners to Outer    Banks surf fishing...
They dash out to the the local tackle shop only to be met with a mob   of other beginners all asking the  tackle shop workers the same  questions...What's biting? Where do I go to catch them? What rod and reel do you recommend? What lures or bait should I use?, What technique is best for catching them...oh ..and..how do I do that technique?...You can imagine the level of enthusiasm and shared knowledge the tackle worker gives while trying to ring up merchandise and after having answered the same questions over and over ....day after day....especially during the summer months.
