Kayak Fishing

Pre-Trip Planning Checklist
Regardless of the season, kayak fishing involves exposure to the weather and water. Safety and comfort are primary considerations over fishing tackle. We have compiled this list of items you should consider getting prior to your trip.
A waterproof bag, 2 gallon ziplocks works well
Quick dry, light weight clothing
A long sleeved, light weight shirt
A visored hat
Bug repellant (not usually a problem)
Shorts with an elastic wasteband or a bathing suit for summer
A neoprene wet suit for cold water
Clothing that becomes heavy when wet and is slow to dry, such as jeans, are not recommended
30 SPF Sunblock
30 SPF lip balm
Sunglasses (amber polarized are best) with a lanyard
A light rain jacket
At least a quart of drinking water, we dont recommend alcohol or sodas since they dehydrate.
A snack of some sort. Energy bars, cookies, fruit, whatever you like.
A Cell phone in 2 ziplock bags
a North Carolina fishing license
Crocs or sandals
A fishing stringer to keep your fish in the water
A waterproof camera (disposable is fine)
A full change of clothing to be left in your car
A cooler large enough for your catch, normal sized cooler is fine
A good filet knife (we will show you how to filet your fish)
A hand towel/wash cloth
PLEASE NOTE:
Each Kayak will have a milk crate type storage area and a covered compartment inside the kayak.
We recommend you use the bathroom before you meet your guide. We dont encourage people to go into the water but in an emergency, its an option but ...PLEASE, FOR SAFETY, NOTIFY YOUR GUIDE IF YOU NEED TO ENTER THE WATER. USE THE WHISTLE ON YOUR PFD LIFEJACKET. WE PROMSE HE WONT PEEK!!! Most launching locations do not have bathrooms.
Your guide will have a first aid kit. If you have problem..use the whistle.
Even if you have your own equipment, your guide will provide you with a the terminal tackle (lures or bait) you will need for the day.
If your kayak tips over, don't panic, its ok. However, be sure your guide sees you (use the whistle) and realize that anything that isnt tied down will be lost so secure your items and our fishing rods!
Tipping is not required but it is customary to give 15% or more to your guide if you are happy with his/her effort.
We will host a private tournament each fall for our customers. Please watch the website and be sure to send us an email after your trip so we have your feedback and the email address.
Please be sure to complete the trip sign-up sheet so we are aware of any special circumstances.
Have a ball and catch em up!
